VICAR

Our world

COMPANY

A LIFE DEDICATED
TO LEATHER PRODUCTION

Conceria Vicar was founded in 1975.
It had an excellent start, and soon established itself on the domestic and foreign market, thanks to the competent work of the partners and their readiness to meet the needs of each individual customer.
The tannery is now managed by Mr. Carrara, company founding partner, and by his sons Franco and Michele; this father-and-son partnership makes the company competitive on the market, combining experience and innovation.
Today, Conceria Vicar tannery has managed to become one of the suppliers of the greatest brands of Italian and international fashion.

Eco-sustainable

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

EQUIPOISE BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION
AND ENVIRONMENTALIMPACT

Conceria VICAR s.r.l. is skilled in producing hair-on leathers, particularly sheep hides, to manufacture high-quality articles for clothing, leather goods and footwear sectors. Conceria Vicar turns a meat industry by-product into a high-quality product thanks to its eco-sustainable philosophy and a modern, systemic, and cutting-edge industrial approach. The tanning process does not kill animals but recovers a waste product from the food industry, i.e., the hide that would otherwise be disposed of. According to the company, this means being highly attentive to the whole chain, starting from the origin, hence assessing the animal’s welfare through a system ascertaining breeding, transport, and slaughtering conditions. Vicar is a stunning example of a highly sustainable industry. It purifies water, treats sewage sludge, and recovers tanning by-products: a circular economy model that is pivotal and vital for our environment today. The aim is to achieve a perfect equipoise between industrial production and environmental impact that is steadily optimised and improved. The philosophy of using a “residue” is a key concept in the circular economy: designing products where what is now intended as a waste is a resource for a new production cycle.
